Will having my system serviced annually and a Value Maintenance Agreement save me money?

Our Value Maintenance Agreement will save you money, protect your property and more importantly possibly save the lives of your family!

Reduce your utility bill.

·        Depending on the current condition of your equipment, annual service may pay for itself several times over in energy savings alone.

·        58% of your homes energy use and costs go to the heating and cooling units of your home.

·        According to studies conducted by the Louisiana Cooperative Extension Service, Gulf States Utility Company and Excel Energy, you can save up to $30.00 per month on your utility bill with regular annual maintenance.

·        Some air conditioning and heating problems can double operating costs.

·        A “Freon” (refrigerant)  undercharge of only 10% can increase operating costs by almost 20%.

·        Just a 100th of an inch of dirt or film on an evaporator coil can reduce it’s efficiency 5%.

·        Dirty air filters can increase operating costs.

·        Dirty burners can cause poor combustion. You pay for useful heat that literally goes up the chimney or flue.

·        Equipment not adjusted properly can waste energy such as annoying fan cycling.

·        Loose panels can increase operating costs and cause a dangerous condition.

·        Defective or improperly calibrated thermostats affect comfort and operating costs.

Why is maintenance important?

We all know that we need to change the oil in our cars (even new ones) to avoid potential problems down the road. Your heating and cooling equipment is no different. Routine maintenance ensures that your equipment is running safely and efficiently. Over 75% of costly furnace and air conditioning repairs are due to lack of maintenance. Protect your family and your investment by having your equipment tuned up today.

How will a Value Maintenance Agreement protect my family?

Each year, there are hundreds of deaths caused by carbon monoxide poisoning. As part of our Value Maintenance Program our NCI Certified technicians will perform a CO/Combustion Analyst test for your home and appliances. The are trained to measure the safety and efficiency of all your combustion equipment, even appliances that we don't sell or service. Thorough testing can also verify that your equipment is operating at peak efficiency and provide the lowest operating costs. We will provide you with documentation that explains what we find and what corrections have been or need to be performed. We will also provide you with material to better educate you about carbon monoxide sources and health effects.

Annual safety checks can eliminate dangerous problems.

a.       Heat exchangers can develop cracks with age. If cracks exist, there is a risk of serious illness from toxic fumes emitted.

b.      Safety controls that do not operate can cause dangerous problems.

c.       Undetected gas leaks are dangerous.

d.      Blocked or restricted combustion air openings can be dangerous.

e.   Flue pipe corrosion or leaks are dangerous.

Are there other benefits?

  • Extended Equipment Life - Heating and air conditioning equipment represents a significant investment for most homeowners. Having equipment serviced and cleaned extends its life expectancy in the same way servicing a car extends its life expectancy. Equipment that is properly maintained will continue to operate over a longer period of time, postponing the necessity of investing in new equipment.
  • Write Smaller Utility Checks - Heating and cooling equipment that is clean and properly adjusted operates at its peak efficiency. When your furnace or air conditioners are not hampered by dirty filters, coils, and blowers, you save money on monthly utility bills.
  • Peace-of-Mind - You can think of a number of alternatives to spending your hard-earned dollars than on major heating and air conditioning equipment repair. A professional cleaning may prevent component damage from clogged or dirty filters and coils. And the inspection may detect problems, which could cause major component failure if not serviced.
  • Easy and Convenient - We know everyone leads busy lives. Between work, family, hobbies, who has time to remember when the furnace and air conditioner maintenance is due? With our Value Maintenance Agreement, Service Network contacts you when your equipment is due for service, and then coordinate the work around your schedule.

Will I begin saving money immediately?

While you won't notice a savings until your initial heating or cooling system maintenance service, you will begin to receive all the additional benefits your Value Maintenance Agreement offers and you will immediately be considered a "preferred maintenance customer".

When should I have my system checked?

You should have your system checked at the beginning of each season. This helps insure increased efficiency, lower operating costs and safety.

Out of Sight, NOT Out of Mind

The old but true cliche' "out of sight, out of mind" is often the reason for neglected maintenance guidelines for your HVAC system. HVAC systems are usually installed where they aren't seen, such as in a section of the basement, a closet, on rooftops, or in mechanical rooms, making them easy to ignore. The systems are simply taken for granted, until they fail. Decreased efficiency, utility overpayment, discomfort, loss of productivity, eventual premature replacement, and higher repair costs are the result.

Just because your HVAC system is out of sight, does not mean it can be neglected. Getting your HVAC system checked twice annually is just as important as changing the oil in your car every 3,000 miles!

Will my heating and cooling equipment last longer if I have a Value Maintenance Agreement?

National studies have proven that 72% of home heating and cooling repairs could be prevented with annual maintenance.

This virtually eliminates the need for you to pay for costly repairs. You’ll enjoy the peace of mind in knowing that your system is saving you money on your utility bills every time it comes on. In some instances, the energy savings are enough to pay the cost of the planned annual maintenance service.

    Reduce repair costs.

a.       Up to 80% of all air conditioning and heating unit failures could be eliminated if the problems that lead to the failure were corrected in a timely manner.

b.      Un-repaired small problems can lead to very expensive repairs.

c.       Weak or dirty pilots can easily be extinguished causing the furnace to shut down.

d.      Properly maintained blower motors will last longer and the temperature more comfortable.

e.      Improperly lubricated rotating equipment will eventually fail.

 f.    Dirty motors are less efficient and will fail sooner.
